DEE DOZER - ALL I ASK
so some of you may already know one of my BFFs Dee Dozier.
maybe from the cover i did on youtube of her song "All I Ask"
or maybe from her song "Beautiful Lies" from the indie film Holding Trevor
well, she's dark, cynical, broken, and broken-hearted...just like us
and she's finally wrangled all that magic together into her FIRST cd release!!! totally self-financed, totally independent, totally awesome.
some of my favorite tracks: "Biloxi", "All I Ask", "Your Song".... and probably my #1 fave: "The One Thing" (<---don't miss this one)
WARNING: these lyrics & melodies will get stuck in your head!!! i should know, i've been walking around humming them to myself for years.
Dee & I met living in Hollywood, CA, where we both moved to be actor/musicians, but instead...just fell apart as teenagers haha. we bought our first guitars the same summer, wrote our first songs together, and sat around playing them in dark alleys wishing we were drunk. she's one of the reasons i'm alive today...one of the reasons i started (and continued) writing & playing music...and definitely the reason i ever braved my first open mic.
support independent music. & get some awesome new underground shit to listen to on the treadmill in the process :)

Jay, thanks so much for directing me over to iTunes with your great recommendation! One of the things I most enjoy about your music is the emotional, honest, and "fuck you if you don't like my songs--I sing them for myself-edness" lyrics. Dee is great! Beautiful, and raw-- with stoytelling I love. Maybe a Jay/Dee tour in 2010? *puppy dog eyes*
