marriage equality

isn't a question of gay vs. straight.

there are a lot of straight people who support it.

and believe it or not, there are plenty of gay people who don't.

like all matters of civil rights & the equal treatment of human beings, it is simply a matter of sane vs. fucking crazy.

there are those who are capable of logic, and those who aren't.

unfortunately, we live in a world largely composed of the latter.

Thanks Jay. Can we count on you to get a NOH8 portrait in NY in two weeks? Will you lend your support?

Totally agree with you, Jay. Come to live Spain, at least in terms of marriage, we attained the right.

Yeah Jay, lend your pretty face to the cause :)

I was lucky enough to be able to get married in Massachusetts (after moving here a few months ago) on Monday to my partner of 9 years. I have been asked many times if it feels different now that we are officially married and at first I thought there was no real difference. Now I have come to realize that it is different, the difference is that now I am exactly the same as all of my other married straight friends. Not just 2 people living together, but 2 people joined together (for us, by God in the Episcopal Church) until death do us part.

People are stupid. What can I say? As long as there are ways to imagine any sect of human as different from another, there will never be true equality. Those that believe people should be characterized by their net worth and sleeping arrangements will always do so and will not be changed into thinking otherwise any time soon. Their ignorance is more powerful than any demonstration of equality or lack thereof.

That said, we can't stop fighting for equality. If we continue to expose the world for what it is, then MAYBE, SOME day, select people will catch on and one by one come to the understanding that things need to change.

All we can do is hope. :-\

THE SEED OF THIS EVIL FUELED IGNORANCE IS LEVITICUS 20:13. THIS ONE STATEMENT HAS BEEN THE KEYSTONE OF ALL HOMO-OPPRESSION IN THE USA.Leviticus 20:13 (King James Version)

13If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

IT IS INSANE.

Same-sex marriage was aproved in Portugal YESTERDAY by the majority on the Parlment. Now we just need the PR's signature! :)

The NOH8 campaign is nothing but a bunch of celebrities trying to absolve themselves of guilt for not doing more to advance the cause of civil rights. It fails to advance any of the goals of the gay rights movement and serves only to advance the career of the principle photographer. Time for a different strategy.

Well said, Jay! I invited all my friends on FB to show their support for Justice and Equality. I only hope that sanity will someday be dominant!

love the way you put it.
lets face it: gay? straight? bi? it all adds up to the same thing: HUMAN! we are a religionless nation under god where we might all be created equal, but that doesn't mean we are treated that way.

i know it's asking too much to believe everyone will approve. so don't be an avid supporter of gay marriage, be an avid supporter of EQUALITY and fraking compassion!

I am totally exhausted with the notion that one person or group of people think they have the right to decide how others should live. (US GOV., Morman LDS Church etc) Telling women what they legally can or can not do with their bodies....telling gay people they can or can not make their relationship legal (just like every one else)....as our prisons get larger and our government gets more controlling...and our national debt continues to grow.....and people continue to stomp around huffing and puffing telling other people how they should live.

I like what John Waters proposed in Sydney recently: we should work towards making heterosexual divorce illegal. Let's see how that positions the "sacred institution" of straight marriage...

i love this activism side of yours. it's even on the songs.
may be u think it not as activism as it's only being as u are.
sadly nowadays (in my country as far) being as one is it's a kind of activism.

to be a housewife, you need being married. it makes sense, doesn't it?
